Emergency Passport

The emergency passport is a temporary document that allows Honduran citizens to return to Honduras or obtain a short-term solution in urgent situations. Although we never know when we might need one, this passport is valid for a short period and is issued only under justified circumstances.

Below, we explain everything you need to know to request it. We’ll guide you on how to book a consular appointment, what documents you need to present, and the cost of the emergency passport. You’ll also find estimated processing times, helpful tips, and frequently asked questions that will assist you through the process.

Who Can Apply for an Emergency Passport?

The emergency passport is intended for Hondurans living abroad who:

  • Have lost their regular passport (due to theft, loss, or damage).
  • Have a proven urgent need to travel (medical emergency, death of a close relative, immigration issues, etc.).
  • Cannot wait for the normal processing time of a regular passport.

Each application is reviewed individually by the corresponding consulate.

Where to Apply

The emergency passport can only be processed at Honduran consulates in the United States. It is not available at honorary consulates or remotely.

You can locate the nearest consulate by selecting the state where you are located:
