If you lost your Honduran national identity card (DNI) or have an application pending while living in the United States, distinguish replacement, enrolment, correction and collection. Starting again as a first applicant does not automatically resolve a lost card or a discrepancy in personal records.

Choose the right service
- Never applied for a DNI: see the enrolment process, documents and witness requirements.
- Previously held a card and lost it: ask the consular office about replacement.
- Already applied: check the status and collection location before creating another request.
- Incorrect personal information: ask which correction procedure applies and keep documents showing the discrepancy.
- Card approaching expiry: confirm renewal instructions and the dates on your document with the office; renewal is different from replacing a lost card.
Lost-card replacement: fee and preparation
The Foreign Ministry publishes a USD 25 consular fee for DNI replacement. First enrolment is free. Do not apply an old directory price or a fee for a procedure inside Honduras to a U.S. consular replacement.
Tell the office you previously obtained a DNI. Confirm accepted documents, payment method and any additional evidence for your case. If the card was stolen, explain the circumstances and keep any police report; ask the office which supporting document it requires.
The Embassy’s enrolment listing accepts a previous Honduran identity card, Honduran passport or Honduran birth certificate and requires personal attendance with original documents. For replacement, obtain the specific instructions for your case rather than assuming any combination of documents is sufficient.

This is the lookup link published by the Foreign Ministry. Enter identity information only on the official portal. If the application does not appear or the status does not clarify collection, keep your receipt and contact the office where you applied. Do not submit different personal details to get around an error.
Collection: confirm the office and keep your receipt
RNP information describes personal collection with the relevant receipt or collection slip. For a consular application, ask the office what identification and verification it needs, where the card is located and how availability is announced. A printing status alone should not be treated as permission to collect the card at any office.
This guide does not guarantee a universal one- or two-month delivery period. Before making a long trip, confirm that the document is at the indicated location and check collection hours, which may have separate instructions from general office hours.
Appointments and corrections
Use the consular directory and official appointment guide (Spanish). Open the portal linked by the selected office and choose the correct service. If replacement, renewal or correction is not listed, ask how to proceed before selecting a different category by guesswork.
Keep the confirmation and review names, date and office before finalizing a reservation. Do not pay intermediaries for guaranteed slots or send identity copies to accounts you have not verified.
DNI, passport and consular registration card
These are different documents. For a subsequent passport application (Spanish) or consular registration card (Spanish), check that service’s requirements and whether it accepts the evidence available to you. A pending DNI application does not reserve another service.

Can someone else collect my DNI?
RNP describes collection as personal. Ask the office about any exceptional situation before sending another person; this guide cannot authorize third-party collection.
